Your Writing Doesn’t Have To Be Perfect
I’m happy to see many new writers joining Medium for their writing journey. Finally, it seems like more people realize that a creative career (including writing) is the future for many of us. We’ve never had such platforms where it paid writers in the past, and I am grateful that I am also part of this journey in the creative economy.
There are so many platforms these days, making it harder for us to choose where to stick for the long term. Moreover, as a new platform emerges, it easily distracts us from creating a new profile and getting eager to be part of it early. However, there is no need to be up-to-date with all rising platforms because we all have the chance to grow in already existing platforms.
New writers on Medium can grow their audience through writing, even if they start today or tomorrow. So by showing up too late doesn’t mean that we are out of luck. Instead, showing up from now can change the future for all of us.
When I first began writing on Medium, I was scared to show my writing to the public. I wasn’t the best writer in school, and I have never really considered myself a good writer. I just became a writer because I posted my writing on this platform for months without stopping. Now that I have over 190 articles in Medium, I can proudly say that I am becoming the writer I dreamed of before.
By showing up every day and putting in the work allowed me to become a writer. If I had to read my first article, it would be a cringe, but I am glad that I wrote that first piece because it had allowed me to find a new hobby of my own.
If you are reading this article, don’t hesitate to start writing. You may not like your first piece, but you will find several pieces on the way that you may be proud of. However, if we do not take any action, it only becomes a missed opportunity.
Whether it is good or bad, there is someone, somewhere in the world, who is looking forward to your next work. In the end, it’s just a matter of doing it right now and seeing the result.
Don’t let the fear stop you.
